SpecialsMate relays official food safety notices. It never says that a food is safe. If a product is not listed, that does not mean it is safe.
- Always read the official notice from Food Standards Australia New Zealand before acting. It has the exact product, size, date marking and what to do.
- If you have a recalled product, follow the notice: usually do not eat it, and return it to the store for a refund.
- If you have eaten a recalled product and feel unwell, or you are worried, talk to a doctor or call healthdirect on 1800 022 222. In an emergency call 000. For poisoning advice call the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26.
- Imported food inspection results list food that failed a test at the Australian border. Food that fails is held at the border and is not released for sale unless it is brought into line with the food standards; otherwise it is re-exported or destroyed. The list shows which kinds of products and countries had problems. It does not mean that similar products in shops are unsafe.
